As I look upon my Facebook,
Truth echoes far and wide
Bad tidings of a tragedy,
Which no Momma can abide.
Today I threw a party.
We laughed and smiled, but how?
Evil walked the Earth today
Pray God, you can't allow.
20 little souls were stolen
Robbed of what's to come.
20 Mommas desolate,
and mercifully numb?
20 Daddies helpless,
No babies to protect...
and their Mommas and their Daddies
How many more lives wrecked?
Santa Clause is coming
less 20 on his list
empty beds and empty arms
Brother and sister missed
Tears are flowing across the world
Grief resonates this day
no love, no prayers, no empathy
can take their pain away
Three little ones are tucked in tight
Momma saddened, scared and shocked
Their mortality is realized
My happy world just rocked
No way to end these verses
My heartache goes on and on.
Love will keep on living
Even if all hope is gone.
You are truly gifted, Josie.
ReplyDeleteSo eloquent with words.
Thanks :(
so sad.....
It has been a surreal and jarring day. I am glad that writing is a way for some of us to try to cope with something that is just too awful to comprehend. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI had to get on and read blogs to stop the aching in my heart. I love your poem, Josie. It speaks for what we all want to say. I taught Kindergarten for many years. I just can't fathom any of it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words, Josie and a fitting tribute to all those angels. Thank you for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteLove will keep on living. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said, Josie! I have no words...honestly I'm choking in tears since I saw it in the news!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading these small thoughts. Poetry was the only way I could help my brain cope with yesterday's tragedy. I am still struggling to comprehend (and will continue to do so for the rest of my life) what happened. So angry. So sad.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words for such a sad event, Josie. We are feeling it here too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this Josie.
