Dear reader,

Welcome to my blog. I'm Josie - the writer of Go Momma! I'm wife to a High School Spanish Teacher and mum mom to three awesome kids: S-boy, L-boy and Little Miss D.

Born and raised in the UK, I met my hobo hubs while backpacking in South America. After two years chasing each other around the globe we tied the knot in Texas. We settled in Scotland, bought our first house together, and got right on down to making the babies.

Only this didn't work right away. So we blamed our barrenness on the UK and the rat race we'd suddenly found ourselves caught up in. A bit drastic to blame it on the country, maybe. But hey - that's how I roll. Without further ado, we both jacked our jobs in, bought a small plot of land in Texas..... and got right on down to making the babies. Again.

The move paid off and, faster than a knife fight in a phone booth, I was up the duff.

We've been over on this side of the pond for four and a half years already (I've only been blogging for one of them) and during that time we've acquired two sons, a daughter, two dogs and a cat.

They say it's best not to mix business and pleasure. Well, my business is my pleasure. I'm a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom) and some days it's hard to call it work, other days it's the hardest job in the world.

When I'm not breastfeeding or cleaning poop out of the potty, you'll usually find Momma building intricate train tracks around the cabin floor or attempting to build a mega-blocks tower all the way to the ceiling. Building bridges and tunnels are also my thing. I probably would have been a cracking Structural Engineer if I hadn't been seduced by the evil oil industry fresh out of uni.

I like to puzzle and paint. I'd much prefer a 1000 piece jigsaw and some acrylics, but these days I'll gladly take a 48 piece Winnie The Pooh puzzle and crayola color wonder. I'm addicted to TV series like 24 and Prison Break and Weeds. And thanks to nursing and NetFlix I get my marathons in from time to time. For the most part though our TV is just another kid toy. I love the Backyardigans but I can't stick Barney. Hate's a strong word, but yes, I hate him.

For exercise I spend all morning walking around the house non-stop. I can keep it up for hours, especially if the place is a dump, which is every morning. I play a game with myself where I have to clear all the toys one toy at a time (a mega-block is one toy). If your house is anything like mine, you'll have toy storage in every single room of the house. Usually I accomplish this carrying a 15lb weight (low impact), or a 34lb weight (high impact). What was that Doc? Being a Mommy doesn't count as exercise, you say?

I try to combine socializing and drinking coffee with my current job as much as possible (Apparently my work day doesn't look that different on paper to a day at the office!) We do lots of play-dates at my house, and other people's houses, at the Jumpy Place (FREE coffee!!) and at the park (I take a flask.) If it weren't for Hill Country Mommas - that's our local Mommy meet-up group - being a SAHM would probably drive me fucking NUTS in this small town. I am also heavily reliant on Facebook and this blog to keep my sanity intact.

When the kids are sleeping I write about anything and everything on Go Momma! Nothing is off limits. (Okay, not entirely true. I've written some pretty racy posts fit to make Madonna blush. But they're still sitting unpublished in my drafts. One day my friends....)

I usually blog about me, my kids and the hubs (so poop and sex mainly) but every now and then there's a bit of cultural insight, or an old travel story thrown in for good measure. It's definitely a humor blog but I do do (see, that's funny right there) serious.

Staying home from work with my babies and drinking coffee playing all day, then staying up and writing about it all night is the BEST of times. I don't want to go back to work, EVER. Okay, maybe one day, when they're all 'growed' up (like in their 30's) and they don't need me so much anymore. Sniff. Let's not talk about that ever again.

I LOVE: (in no particular order): coffee, chocolate, red wine, sex, writing, lager, PG Tips, foot-rubs, sit-coms, trashy mags, 90s dance music, IHOP, my children, my dogs, the hubs, the cat (Wait, scratch the cat.)

I HATE: (in no particular order): raisins, tequila, Barney, junk mail, running, using the oven, the News, giving foot-rubs, being alone, the cat (Wait, scratch the cat.)

So now you think you know me, but you don't. Not really. Not yet...  A blogger is so much more than the sum of all her posts (I stole that line from another blogger recently).

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I hope you stick around for a bit and find something you can laugh at. Much love,

The Momma
xo
